You must check your name for availability prior to filing your Articles of Incorporation. Names can be checked by facsimile by calling (303) 894-2242. There is a $3.00 fee for checking name availability by facsimile. Contact (303) 894-2200 extension 300 for details and to arrange payment.

Name availability checks are preliminary only. A final decision on a corporate name is not given until your final Articles of incorporation are received. For this reason, do not commit resources to your name until you receive a return of your filed Articles from the Secretary of State.

A corporate name must include a name, follwed by a corporate designation such as Company, Inc., Corporation, Incorporated.

You name may not include words that imply a purpose that is not permitted by your Articles of Incorporaiton.

Your name cannot be the same or deceptively similar to the name of another Colorado corporation, a registered tradename or assumed name, or a foreign corporation name thati s registered in Colorado.

A letter of consent is required of you use a name of another entity that has a geographic modifier, such as Computer Services of Colorado. This would require consent of "Computer Services" if that name is on Colorados' registration files.
